9 Skin yoga tips: Today in this blog we will discuss some benefits of yoga for our skin. We all are familiar with this word and even our Prime Minister has declared 21st June as World Yoga Day. There are some miraculous effects of yoga, just this requires patience and practice. Before getting into the benefits let us know a little about yoga. Basically, yoga is a system of exercises for the body that involves breath control and helps relax both your mind and body. The ultimate purpose of yoga is to help achieve real happiness. This comes when a person achieves the actual goal of yoga which is optimum physical, mental and spiritual well-being. By practicing yoga as a whole, including living a yoga lifestyle and especially by practicing Yoga Sound Meditation, you can become truly happy and fulfilled in the core of your being.

Now let us focus on the benefits

Premature wrinkling can start mainly due to stress or unhealthy lifestyle practices. Some significant reasons are smoking, alcohol, drug addiction, and unhealthy food choices. Acne is another common skin problem. This could sometimes occur due to hormonal changes in the body and improper digestion also shows up in the form of acne. Whatever the cause, these yoga asanas can help you achieve smooth, glowing skin.

We will be discussing some poses and some facial massage techniques.

Yoga facial massage
1. Eyebrow pinching

Using your index finger and thumb softly pinch your eyebrows from start to end. Repeat these 4 to 5 times while breathing normally. This technique relaxes your facial muscles and relieves tension.

2. Forehead massage

Gently massage your forehead using 4fingers. Start from the center by inhaling and exhale as you reach the corner of your forehead. Repeat these 3 to 4 times. You can also apply aloe vera gel from my brand Chiara and then massage. Aloe vera gel will soothe skin and this massage will prevent wrinkles on the forehead.

3. Cheek lifting

 Gently massage your cheeks in an upward circular motion. Start from the side of your nose and keep massaging gently towards the side of the ear. Repeat these 4 to 5 times.

4.  Neck massage

Lift your face up and gently stroke your neck using 2 fingers upward motion. Starting from the base move upwards in light motion.  Make sure not to apply harsh pressure as that can cause discomfort.

These are some easy massages that will help in giving a wrinkle-free clear skin. Now let us dig into some yoga poses for crystal clear skin.

  1. Pranayama

Sit in a comfortable cross-legged position such as Easy Pose. Close the right nostril with your right thumb. Inhale deeply through the left nostril. Close the left nostril with the ring finger of your right hand as you release the right nostril. Do this for 15 minutes, you can take a 5-minute break in between.

  •  Headstand pose/sirasana

If you have a strong neck and back, this asana can be performed easily. Though this requires a person to stand on the head so this is considered a little dangerous as our neck bones are not made to take up so much weight. This aasan circulates blood to the facial nerves and gives a healthy flushed glow.

  • Corpse pose /Shavasana

Though considered easy this asana requires a lot of focus and relaxation with being in synchronized with the surroundings.

  •  Surya namaskar

There are 12 steps to perform this asana. This basically means salutations to the sun. Surya namaskar not only helps in giving a glowing skin but also helps in giving a healthy body.

  • Dhanurasan

Dhanurasana, Bow Pose, is a back-bending asana in yoga. This asana stretches the entire body and helps in blood circulation. Thus, helps in giving a healthy skin.

So, these are some yogic facial massages and yoga poses that can be tried at home. Remember to be careful while trying any pose.
